We know that Facebook has been planning to merge its social networking services together. They even want to add their name to Facebook and Instagram as per a recent report.
It is also not new that these social networks share similar features and now WhatsApp is getting one that we see on Instagram.
According to the tipster WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is working on their own Boomerang feature which allows you to loop a video. Boomerang is a popular feature on Instagram where people share looping videos of doing random things. It seems like WhatsApp wants to bolster their feature pack with this popular one from Instagram.
Apparently the option to create these ‘boomerangs’ will be available in the video type panel. The video panel is where you can also convert a video into a GIF. When the video is less than 7 seconds, you can easily create a boomerang of your videos. These looping videos can now be shared to your contacts or on your status updates.
WhatsApp has been working on this feature in the last few weeks apparently. The feature is not yet available to everyone including the ones who are on the WhatsApp beta channel.
The blog says that initially the feature will be available on iOS and later on, it will trickle down to Android.
This move by WhatsApp is not weird at all. WhatsApp has been copying Instagram for a while now and having looping videos on WhatsApp will be a hit for the 1.5 billion plus users the social network has.
