Visa Appoints Former Oracle Country Leader as East Africa’s General Manager

Corine MbiaketchaPayments corporation Visa has appointed Corine Mbiaketcha as the Vice President and Country Manager for Visa in East Africa. Corine’s new position will be effective from November 5, 2019.

Ms. Mbiaketcha joins Visa from Oracle, where she served as the Country Leader, Kenya, and Managing Director for Technology.

Her new role will see her head and manage Nairobi’s team as the payments company spurs growth in the nation, as well as Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Mauritius, and Ethiopia. Corine will also be tasked with Visa’s overall strategy in the greater E. Africa region, which entails building and strengthening relationships with clients, regulators and other primary stakeholders in the payments and finance space.

She has worked with a broad range of stakeholders across various sectors including technology and the financial services industry, as well as regulators and financial institutions. Corine joins Visa at a great time to help drive East Africa’s move away from cash into more reliable, secure and innovative forms of digital payments as well as drive engagement with non-traditional partners in fintech,” remarked Aida Diarra, Senior Vice President, Group Country Manager, Visa Sub Saharan Africa.

Corine held various roles at Oracle and has served the American technology corporation for more than one decade. She worked as a Market Strategist, Regional Director and her last position as Country Leader.
