realme, the Chinese smartphone brand has big plans for Kenya as they plan to increase sales by 30% this year.
“This year, we shall focus on continuously enriching our products and providing suitable young and trend-setting options to our users in Kenya. We shall capitalize on the synchronization of our brand, terminal, and sales,” said Mildred Agoya, Marketing Director, realme Kenya.
They are planning more releases this year which they say are “tailored towards the needs of Kenyan millennials to give them both value for money and comfortability.”
Last year, realme entered the Kenyan market with a bang. They launched the realme C3, realme 6, realme 7i, realme C11, realme C12 realme C15, Buds Q and Buds Air Neo within 4 months in 2020.
We don’t know yet what realme will release in 2021 but we can guess that they will launch the 2021 updates to the smartphones and accessories mentioned above. The sub Kshs 25,000 smartphone and accessories market in Kenya is very competitive and a lot of players have devices in this category.
realme has a plan to achieve that goal. “More smartphone products from realme will focus more on the promotion of cost-effective products such as the C Series,” the company says.
realme is quite the successful brand worldwide. They hit 50 million units shipped during the 3rd quarter of 2020. As per Counterpoint research, they ranked 7th with a year on year growth of 157% which was the first in the world as of Q1 2020.
