Update below: Facebook’s top three giant platforms are down if you’re wondering why you can’t share memes or texts with your friends on WhatsApp, Instagram and the Facebook Messenger app.
The three giant social platforms have been down since 8:30 PM Kenyan time. The outage affected Instagram’s one billion users and WhatsApp’s over two billion users.
Instagram is showing a 500 error message while WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger messages aren’t being delivered.
Downdetector shows an increase in Instagram, WhatsApp and Facebook Messenger outages reported on the platform.
Update:
Facebook has resolved the issues that led to the disruption. Here’s a statement from Leslie Grant, Facebook spokesperson.
“Earlier today, a technical issue caused people to have trouble accessing some Facebook services. We resolved this issue for everyone, and we apologize for any inconvenience.”
Facebook has yet to share a statement on the outages affecting its apps.
