Instagram is adding a highly requested feature to its Stories. The giant social media platform is testing letting anyone share a link on this ephemeral feature.
This feature is still exclusive to users with more than 10,000 followers or verified accounts who can add a swipe up link.
There’s a catch though – for this test, Instagram will let users add a link sticker that their followers tap to open instead of swiping up.
Wishlist: Features Instagram Should Have
But a win for this feature is that your followers can be able to respond to the story with this sticker. The swipe up links don’t allow for users to respond.
Instagram Head of Product, Vishal Shah told the Verge that they[Instagram] will be watching for the types of links people post while keeping a particular eye on misinformation and spam.
It looks like Instagram might move away from the swipe up link feature and switch to link stickers. Vishal said that that link stickers are the end goal for Instagram for both regular users and users with more than 10,000 followers or verified accounts who have the ability to include a swipe up link.
New Features Coming to Instagram
It’s worth noting regular posts are not getting clickable links on the captions – links will stay exclusively on Stories.
I am genuinely excited for this feature on Stories unlike the timer feature Instagram is testing.
