Instagram isn’t giving up on going after TikTok. The giant social network is now increasing the time limit for Reels, its short-form video feature from 30 seconds to 60 seconds.
TikTok is way ahead as it already allows users to upload up to 3 minute long videos.
Apart from expanding the time limit, Instagram also added captions sticker on Reels to make the videos more accessible for the hard-hearing users, the deaf and people who who play Reels without the sound on.
TikTok already offers this for its videos.
Increasing the time limit will come in handy for creators who cross post their content on TikTok, Instgaram, YouTube Shorts, Snapchat or Triller.
It’s worth noting that YouTube Shorts and Snapchat Spotlight support 60 second-long videos.
The new update can be accessed by going to create(the + icon,), selecting Reels, press the down button on the left side, where you’ll see the length icon, tap onit to change it from 30 seconds to 60 seconds.
