The Vivo X100 flagship series is finally making its global debut after the initial China-only release in November. The Vivo X100 and X100 Pro offer some major camera improvements with the 50MP 1-inch Main Camera and floating lens element on the Pro version standing out.
Under the hood, both models are powered by MediaTek’s Dimensity 9300 SoC. This makes the Vivo X100 and X100 Pro the first phones to feature the flagship chipset outside of China. The Vivo X100 series will be available in the Southeast Asia markets including India and Indonosea, while Europe will only be getting the X100 Pro.
The X100 Pro comes with a 5,400mAh battery with 100W wired and 50W wireless charging. The X100, meanwhile, has a 5,000mAh battery with 120W wired charging.
Vivo disagrees with the majority of other flagship series that pack a smaller screen on the “non-pro” model. Both Vivo X100 and X100 Pro come with the same 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED displays with up to 120HZ refresh rate. The displays can reach up to 3,000 nits peak brightness while offering 2,160Hz PWM dimming. Both phones are IP68 rated for dust and water resistance.
The camera systems
When it comes to the Vivo X100 Pro camera system, things get interesting. On the rear, we a get triple camera system with the main having a Sony’s 50MP 1-inch sensor. Additionally, it also includes a 50MP 15mm ultrawide lens and a 50MP floating telephoto zoom camera designed for better close-up photography. The telephoto camera comes with up to 4.3x optical zoom, an increase from the 2x in the previous model – the X90 Pro.
The Vivo X100 has a watered-down camera system. It doesn’t get the floating element; however, it does pack a similar triple rear camera system, featuring a 50MP wide and ultrawide lens. The only difference is the 64 MP periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom.
The X100 Pro gets the newest V3 imaging chip which supports 4K cinematic portrait mode while the X100 sticks with the older V2 which only enables 1080p cinematic portrait mode. In addition, both models come with Zeiss optics and Zeiss T* lens coating.
On the front, both the Vivo X100 and X100 Pro come with a 32MP selfie camera.
