Kenya Space Agency (KSA), the state corporation mandated to coordinate and regulate space activities, will use the Konza Technopolis Data Center for its operations. Today, KSA and Konza Technopolis officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).
“The MOU presents an opportunity within which KSA will access our infrastructure such as data center, secured cloud and data protection facility,” John Paul Okwiri, CEO of Konza Technopolis said.
The Konza National Data Center is a high-tech facility certified to meet Tier III Uptime standards, ensuring reliable and secure data storage. It acts as the backbone for Konza Technopolis and other clients, offering a variety of cloud services and solutions. These include everything from setting up your infrastructure to providing software solutions and colocation services.
KSA believe the facility is capable of handling the agency’s data needs and aiding in scaling its operations.
“KSA generates massive and voluminous space-derived data and we require a first-class facility that can support us in our data requirements such as processing, storage and data management,” Brig. Hillary Kipkoskey said.
The state corporation is not in Konza to only seek a data centre. KSA will also establish a presence in the Konza Technopolis. The presence will enable KSA to create stronger partnerships in utilizing space data.
These collaborations will empower the space agency to provide the government with data-driven insights for key development priorities.
Brig. Kipkoskey noted that the space agency is focused on deriving data on areas such as agriculture, disaster management, security, communication, urban planning and resource management.
