The Fintech Association of Kenya (FINTAK) has appointed Dr. Juliet Ongwae as a Board Director, effective May 20, 2024. At FINTAK, Dr. Juliet will lead the SupTech/RegTech Committee, playing a role in the Kenyan fintech community geared towards more innovative and efficient regulatory practices.
FINTAK is a body bringing together key players in Kenya’s fintech industry. Joining the organisation, Dr. Juliet is bringing over 20 years of experience in the digital financial services (DFS) sector. In her professional journey, she has been part of digital transformation initiatives across Sub-Saharan Africa and South-East Asia.
Dr Juliet has a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Development Economics and International Development awarded by The University of Manchester. She also earned a Master of Business Administration (MBA), Corporate Finance from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP). For her undergraduate, she studied Business Information Systems and E-Commerce, Management Information Systems at the University of Wollongong.
Today, she is a Senior SupTech Specialist at the Cambridge SupTech Lab, University of Cambridge. Previously she has worked at MicroSave Consulting. She has also worked as Chief Innovation Officer at Musoni Microfinance. Dr Juliet did have a 10 year stint at the Central Bank of Kenya (CBK). This was after a short period at Barclays Bank Kenya (now Absa Kenya).
