Samsung’s smart home appliances have earned their first security certification from TÜV Nord, setting a major milestone as Europe tightens cybersecurity requirements for connected devices.
The German certification body approved two robot vacuum series, the Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam and Bespoke Jet Bot Combo, along with Samsung’s Bespoke AI Refrigerators.
This certification follows ETSI EN 303 645 standards, which cover security requirements throughout a device’s entire lifecycle.
Europe is implementing stricter security measures through updates to the Radio Equipment Directive and the upcoming Cyber Resilience Act. These regulations will require IoT manufacturers to meet higher security standards or face market restrictions.
TÜV Nord‘s certification process evaluates data encryption, user authentication, secure software updates, personal data protection, and vulnerability management. Samsung’s appliances passed all requirements, demonstrating compliance with emerging European standards.

Samsung’s approach is based on its Knox security platform, which the company has adapted from smartphones to home appliances.
The system provides multiple protection layers, including firmware verification when devices power on and encryption for all monitoring footage and user commands from robot cleaners.
“As the global focus on smart home security intensifies, Samsung continues to deliver robust protection through our Knox security platform,” said Jeong Seung Moon, Executive Vice President and Head of the R&D Team for Digital Appliances Business at Samsung Electronics.
“This certification validates the strength of our security technologies, and we will continue to enhance differentiated protection to safeguard customer data.”
The 2025 refrigerators and AI Jet Bot Steam include advanced Knox Matrix and Knox Vault features. Knox Matrix enables devices to monitor each other for security threats and alert users to potential data theft.
Knox Vault stores sensitive information like passwords on dedicated hardware, separate from the main system.
Samsung plans to showcase the Bespoke AI Jet Bot Steam at IFA 2025 next month. The Bespoke Jet Bot Combo and Bespoke AI Refrigerators are already available in select global markets.
