Samsung Electronics has officially started rolling out One UI 8, its latest software update based on Android 16.
According to the update notes, it introduces advanced multimodal AI capabilities, personalized suggestions, and enhanced security features designed to make daily life smarter, more secure, and more convenient.
The rollout begins with the Galaxy S25 series before expanding to the Galaxy S24 series, Galaxy Z Fold6, Galaxy Z Flip6, Galaxy S24 FE, and additional eligible Galaxy models later in 2025.
Smarter AI for Daily Life
One UI 8 introduces context-aware, personalized suggestions that adapt to users’ unique routines.
- Now Bar: Shows real-time app activity and media player progress on the Galaxy Z Flip’s Flex Window.
- Now Brief: Provides daily updates on traffic, reminders, subscriptions, and Samsung Moments, along with health insights from Galaxy Watch.
Samsung has also augmented security in One UI 8 to match its new AI features. The update introduces Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP), which creates private, app-specific storage spaces to keep sensitive data safe.
Knox Matrix provides protection by detecting threats and signing devices out of Samsung Accounts when needed.
On top of that, Secure Wi-Fi has been upgraded with post-quantum cryptography (PQC) to give users better protection, even when browsing on public networks.
Multimodal AI Experiences
One UI 8 is powered by multimodal AI that blends vision, audio, and context for seamless interaction. This includes:
- Gemini Live: Real-time AI assistance that understands what you’re watching or seeing, available on Flip’s FlexWindow for hands-free use.
- Circle to Search with Google: Instantly search or translate text/images directly on screen, perfect for games, news, or social media.
Optimized UX for Every Galaxy Device
Samsung has tailored One UI 8 for smartphones, tablets, and foldables to enhance productivity and creativity through:
- AI Results View: Displays AI results in a split or floating window while keeping the original content visible.
- Multi Window: Drag-and-drop AI-generated text or images into apps and documents.
- Customization: Adaptive clock fonts that adjust to wallpapers, curated FlexWindow themes, and emoji-based designs.
- New Creative Tools: Drawing Assist, Writing Assist, Portrait Studio for pets, and Audio Eraser to remove background noise.
