Some of the cool features in Snapchat are activated when you turn on your location like for example Geofilters which are overlays that are preset per location. They tag your Snaps and Stories to that location and may lead to them being featured in a Live Story.
Well, Snapchat is expanding on that roster of location based features where they are now introducing Geostickers. Just like Geofilters, Geostickers will appear when you turn on your location and you will be able to use them just like any other sticker in your chats or snaps.
Snapchat is probably the only social network company that is doing this currently as others usually offer a huge library of stickers at a go without the need to use a location. However in Snapchat’s case, they have been doing these location based features for a while now and its millions of users will be at home with it.
The company has been bolstering its sticker collection of late from adding them in its huge Chat 2.0 update and on the Snap interface. This does not mean the other networks have been slacking, like Twitter recently rolled out their searchable stickers to everyone and the likes of Facebook have had standard stickers available to their users for a while now.
Unfortunately, these Geostickers are only available in select cities which include New York, San Francisco, Washington DC, Honolulu, London, Paris, São Paulo, Riyadh and Paris. The company didn’t specify when they will be rolled out to other cities. Let us see if Instagram will copy this feature like what they did just recently.
