Facebook’s core product is letting you connect with your friends in a variety of ways and one of the ways is by checking out their updates on the News Feed. Today, Facebook wants to make sure that those connections that you have managed to have over the years to become even more useful thanks to their new feature, Get Recommendations.
“We’re rolling out a new tool that makes it easier to get and organize all those recommendations in one place,” Facebook explains on their blog. When you write a post looking for advice about a certain thing, you will have an option to turn on recommendations for the post so that your friends can be able to help you.
The second feature that they announced was Discover Local Events. Events has been one of those features in Facebook that have been available for a while now and now the company wants to make exploring events that are happening around you. This comes after they outed a separate apps for events which means they are keen on making sure that you use Facebook to identify events that are happening in your area or are being attended by your friends.
The other features that Facebook added in this update are tied to you interacting with businesses in your locale (new call to action buttons) where you can:
- Order food.
- Request an appointment.
- Get a quote.
- Get tickets to movies and events.
These features are only currently rolling out on US today but they promise that they will be launching even more features in the future. However, it is not clear when they will roll out these features in other geographical locations.
