Oppo today has announced a new sub-brand for smartphones — Oppo Reno and the brand logo is quite colourful.

The company also announced that the first phone under the Reno sub-brand will be launched on 10th April in China.

The interesting bit is that there is no further information that was released about this upcoming smartphone as of now.

However, Oppo’s vice president, Brian Shen, had gone to Weibo last week to reveal specifications of an upcoming device. This mystery device was powered with the latest top of the line Snapdragon 855 processor. He also said that it will come with 10x hybrid zoom which could be the ‘periscope’ design that they showed off at MWC. Finally, he said that it will have a 4065mAh battery. Apparently Brian Shen had also confirmed that this mystery phone will be released in April and has over a million units in stock.

The evidence dictates that this could be the new Reno phone Oppo is hyping about. We don’t know about whether Oppo will show us a new design language or whether it will support wireless charging. That phone that Brian Shen teased last week could also be the successor to the Oppo Find X which was a striking phone from Oppo.

We have to wait and see what Oppo is planning to show us in a month’s time. The idea of Oppo having a sub-brand is technically brand inception since Oppo is a sub-brand of BBK Electronics. BBK Electronics also owns Vivo, OnePlus and Realme
