Snapchat experience on Android phones has generally been inferior to its iOS sibling and Snap has recognized this. Photos and videos taken on Snapchat for iOS always tend to look better on iOS than on the Android sibling and this has been a source of ridicule for Android phones in general.
The problem has been the fact that optimization is a problem. There are many Android phones out there with great cameras and the problem has been how Snapchat optimizes their app to take advantage of those cameras. Seems like Huawei is tackling this head on with a partnership with the company.
The P30 series are the latest flagship smartphones from Huawei and their main focus is on the cameras. Now they want to make that experience better with Snapchat since you wouldn’t want to have such great cameras and your experience with Snapchat to be terrible.
The Huawei-Snapchat partnership will optimize the Snapchat experience on the P30 and the P30 Pro in that you’ll notice higher quality imaging for photos and videos. Photos will be of higher resolution and videos will have better stabilization.
Interesting enough, there is more optimization on the way where the the ultra wide angle camera on the P30 and the P30 Pro will also soon have special features for Snapchat users. However, these ‘special features’ are unknown at the moment and will probably come via a software update.
This is actually great news for those Android users that would want a decent Snapchat experience and can afford the new P30 series of smartphones. This partnership will ensure that Snapchat takes full advantage of the awesome camera hardware inside the P30 and the P30 Pro.
