The world of cheap smartphones is filled to the brim with hundreds of options. The segment has also seen an elevation in the name of a ‘flaghship killer’, a term that was initially coined by China’s OnePlus. However, that ship sailed when OnePlus started to increase the price of their offerings for every successive device, which is not a bad thing as each generation brought more features to the table. However, this jump in price means that OnePlus is no longer a cheap brand it started out to be. To this end, Xiaomi’s POCOPHONE brand kicked in to fill that gap, and to expand its turf in selling phones that have the industry’s leading specifications and features on the cheap, the Chinese manufacturer’s has released the Redmi K20 Pro that is equipped with the Snapdragon 855 silicon, tons of RAM, a large AMOLED display, a triple camera system at the rear and a pop-up display. Redmi, for those who may not be aware, is a sub-brand of Xiaomi. A fully specc’d out of the K20 Pro will cost less than $400, which will be around KES 45,000 or less when Xiaomi Kenya or third party retailers drop it in Kenya. Here are the rest of the specifications:
