Instagram has announced a new feature that will allow users to add a song to their profile, resembling Myspace which has long been discontinued.
According to Meta, users can add music to their profile in the bio area. The song will be featured until the user decides to remove or replace it, but the song will not autoplay. Fortunately, those who view your profile will be able to play or pause the track.
To add the song to the bio, you have to head to the “edit profile” page, where you can search for and choose the track of your choice from Instagram’s collection of licensed music as you do with Stories, posts or Reels. After that, you will be able to select the 30-second long part of the track to add.
The feature was launched by Instagram in collaboration with American pop star Sabrina Carpenter, well-known for her hit song “Espresso”. So, you can probably tell that this feature will be very popular among artists who wish to tease any of their new songs.
Those who are old enough to have used Myspace will probably experience some deja vu with this new Instagram feature.
The social media platform has been adding a couple of features over the last few months with one of the most recent being the ability to add multiple tracks on Reels directly on the app. Users are now able to add up to 20 tracks in a single Reel by just tapping on the “Add to mix” options in the app’s video editor. You can then trim the tracks to include the specific audio portion you want on your video.
