Smartphone manufacturer Vivo has officially announced a new release date for its latest midrange, the Vivo V40 in Kenya. The V40 is the company’s latest midrange smartphone set to succeed the Vivo V30 that was launched in the country earlier this year.
Commenting on the launch of V40, James Irungu, Vivo Kenya’s Brand and Communications manager, remarked, “Since the end of 2020, vivo has embarked on a global strategic partnership in imaging innovation with ZEISS. Our collaboration encompasses in-depth research and development, joint product creation, and cultural branding efforts. Now, V series users can also enjoy the thrill of professional portrait
creation as the collaboration between vivo and ZEISS extends to V40, bringing top-tier mobile photography capabilities to a wider audience than ever before.”
The V40 sports a 6.78-inch AMOLED screen loaded with Android 14 from the box and up to 4500nits peak brightness. Under the chassis is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor paired with Adreno 720 GPU. The phone comes in 12GB and 8GB RAM options with internal storage options of 128GB, 256GB and 512GB. The phone also boasts IP68 water and dust resistance.
At the back lies a dual-camera module that consists of a 50MP main camera and a 50MP ultrawide lens while the display carries a 50MP front-facing camera. All this is powered up by a 5,500mAh battery pack that also features 80W fast charging and reverse wired charging.
From what we know, the phone is set to retail at KES 64,999 although it is still unclear which variants will be launched for the Kenyan market.
