Samsung has officially unveiled the first beta version of its highly anticipated One UI 7, built on android 15. The update which was initially expected to roll out later in December has surprised tech enthusiasts by being launched early starting December 5th 2024. The beta version is available in Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24 plus and S24 ultra. With users in Germany, US and Korea first to experience it.
New features
One UI promises many exciting features. Among the most notable features are:
- Redesigned Lock Screen: The lock screen has been refreshed, providing more customization options and a cleaner look. With One UI 7, Samsung users can expect added functionality, including widgets and dynamic lock screen designs inspired by iOS.
- Improved Notification Center. The notification panel has been revamped with the addition of a split panel for notifications and quick settings.
- Modernized Icons: One UI 7 introduces fresh, modern icons across various system apps.
- Smoother Animations: One UI 7 is designed with fluid system animations and transitions. This makes the making interactions on Galaxy devices feel more seamless.
- iOS-Inspired Design: Some elements of the interface, such as the redesigned lock screen and notification layout, take inspiration from iOS. This has sparked debate among users about the blending of design philosophies.
The beta program is currently available to the Galaxy users only. Other regions are expected to get the updates soon. While the beta updates offers a glimpse of what is coming in the final release, not all functionalities are included yet. The full One UI 7 update is scheduled for an early 2025 launch. The launch will align with the debut of the Galaxy S25 series.
