Microsoft has officially announced that Windows 11 version 23H2, which powers millions of PCs worldwide, will reach the end of service for Home and Pro editions on November 11 of this year.
After this date, these editions will stop receiving monthly security updates, bug fixes, and technical support.
This affects Windows 11 Home, Pro, Pro for Workstations, and Pro Education. For Enterprise, Education, and IoT Enterprise editions, the end-of-service date is set for November 10, 2026, giving business users a longer support window.
When support ends, Microsoft will no longer release updates to address security vulnerabilities, fix system bugs, or improve performance for Windows 11 23H2 Home and Pro.
This means users who continue running this version will be exposed to security risks, potential malware attacks, and compatibility issues with new applications.
Businesses and everyday users alike will lose access to official Microsoft support for any OS-related problems, making timely upgrades critical.
Lifecycle and Timeline
Windows 11 version 23H2 was first released on October 31, 2023. Microsoft’s consumer editions, such as Home and Pro, follow a 24-month support cycle, while enterprise editions get 36 months.
That means November 11, 2025, marks the end of Microsoft’s commitment to providing updates for these consumer-focused versions.
Upgrade to Windows 11 24H2.

This new version extends support for Home and Pro editions until October 13, 2026, and introduces several improvements, including enhanced AI capabilities, better efficiency features, and upgraded security protections.
However, Microsoft warns that some PCs may face upgrade blocks due to outdated drivers, firmware issues, or incompatible applications such as Dirac Audio and SenseShield security tools. These problems must be resolved before proceeding with the upgrade.
