Samsung is preparing to make one of its most ambitious moves in the foldable market with the launch of its first tri-fold smartphone.
Rumored to be called the Galaxy Z TriFold or Galaxy G Fold, the device is expected to be unveiled as soon as this month as part of a wider push into next-generation mobile form factors.
The Samsung tri-fold introduces a dual-hinge design that allows the display to bend twice. When fully unfolded, it will offer nearly 10 inches of screen space, effectively blurring the line between a phone and a compact tablet.
Folded down, the device is said to shrink to a more manageable 6.5-inch form, making it pocket-friendly despite its size.
Samsung’s inward-folding approach is designed to keep the expansive display protected when closed, addressing durability concerns that have dogged earlier foldable designs.
The handset is also expected to weigh close to 300 grams, making it heavier than a traditional smartphone but still lighter than most tablets.
Features and Software
Leaked details suggest the tri-fold will be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and run on One UI 8.5, an interface optimized for multitasking across the tri-panel layout.

Users will reportedly be able to run three full apps simultaneously, launch app pairings, and switch fluidly between tablet and phone modes.
The device is also expected to support 5G, wireless charging through the Qi2 standard, reverse charging for accessories, and NFC payments. Battery charging, however, may remain capped at 25 watts, a conservative choice compared to rivals offering much faster speeds.
Samsung had originally planned to launch the device earlier in the year, but production issues linked to chipset supply pushed the timeline back.
The new target is the final quarter of 2025, with an initial production run limited to around 50,000 units. Pricing is tipped to range between $2,500 and $3,000, placing the tri-fold firmly in the luxury tier of the smartphone market.
