Millions of Kenyan residents who visit Huduma Centres across the nation are currently not being served as per the norm. This is because Huduma Kenya services went offline today, June 15, 2026, due to a power outage at the government agency’s data centre.
In a public notice seen by Techweez, the agency confirmed the outage, stating its technical unit is working to resolve the matter.
“Huduma Kenya wishes to inform the public that services are temporarily unavailable at Huduma Centres due to a power outage that affected our data centre,” the notice read.
No timeline for restoration was provided.
Huduma Centres are designed to take government services as close as possible to Kenyans. These facilities are where Kenyans go for documentation such as national ID applications, passport processing, and Kenya Revenue Authority services.

Currently, with general elections set for next year in August, Kenyans can also access IEBC services at these centres. It means the current outage, on a regular working day, has the potential to affect millions of people.
The prolonged downtime proves that Huduma Kenya lacks a fully functional, geo-redundant data centre strategy and automated failover systems to guarantee high availability for its critical services.
The agency apologised for the inconvenience caused and asked for public patience as restoration efforts continue.
This is a developing story.
