Tesla CEO Elon Musk is already flexing his power at Twitter after snapping a $2.9B stake in Twitter making him the company’s largest shareholder.
He tweeted to his 80 million followers on Twitter asking if they wanted an edit button. Parag Agrawal, Twitter’s current CEO joined in and quote-tweeted his poll saying that “The consequences of this poll will be important. Please vote carefully”
The edit feature has been the most anticipated Twitter feature and would allow people to quickly edit their tweets especially to correct typos.
Twitter had hinted at this on April Fool’s but it looks like this could very soon materialize.
If this feature is ever to be implemented, they will have to put rules around it as bad actors could go and edit their tweets to avoid being cancelled with “this you” tweets.
The best implementation is that users can edit their tweets but the original tweet remains for accountability. And Elon Musk agrees.
Former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey was against adding an edit button to the platform.
There are no timelines to expect but Michael Sayman, Twitter’s product lead quote-tweeted the original tweet saying:
So fingers crossed, Twitter is actually building this feature.
If edit button is announced, it will outrank Twitter’s features such as Spaces, its Collab feature, Super Follows feature and Twitter Blue.
