While WhatsApp is trying to catch up with its rival Telegram, the messaging app is keeping its eye on its clones.
The Meta-owned platform is now testing a new feature popular among the likes of GB WhatsApp and FM WhatsApp. These modded WhatsApp versions come with more customisation features that let you go stealth while you’re online such as allowing you to watch the Status of your contacts without letting them know(incognito) and the more important feature – Freezing your last seen.
WhatsApp is bringing the ability to pause your last seen. So you’ll be online but your contacts won’t know when last you were online.
The app already updated its last-seen privacy options early this year by adding – My Contacts Except which allows you to set your last seen status to be visible for specific contacts.
The new Last Seen status feature adds to the three options – Everyone, My Contacts or Nobody.
Well, they’ll be a new fourth option as seen by this screenshot from the iOS version.
This new feature will soon ship to its Android counterpart. This means you won’t need to download a modded app for this.
WhatsApp has been busy this year. They recently let users transfer their chat history including messages, videos and photos from Android to iPhone.
The app will also soon let you edit sent text messages. The edit button is going to be a more efficient way to fix your spelling errors.
WhatsApp also redesigned the status interface that now supports rich link preview and added a new text status interface.
