The Reno11 and the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ are the latest midrange smartphones from OPPO and Xiaomi that were launched in late January and early February this year respectively.
OPPO has the base Reno11 and Reno11 Pro available in the country while Xiaomi has three models in the Note 13 series – base versions, Pro and Pro+ models.
Both phones pack upgrades including better chipsets, new designs, new cameras and brighter displays to make you switch.
Here’s our overview comparison look:
UNBOXING
Both phones are generous with their accessories.
Reno11 comes in a silver-white box containing the phone, a clear TPU case, a 67W charging brick, a Type-C cable, a sim ejector tool and documentation.
Redmi Note 12 Pro Plus 5G comes in a white box and inside it, you get the phone, a protective case, a SIM ejector tool, a USB-C cable, a 120W charger, and the usual documentation inside the box.
With Xiaomi, you get a much faster charger in the box which gives it a starting lead.
DESIGN
From the get-go, the two phones look gorgeous. Reno11 comes in Rock Grey and Wave Green while Note 13 Pro Plus comes in Midnight Black, Moonlight White and Aurora Purple.
Unlike OPPO, Redmi Note 13 Pro Plus has IP68 ingress protection. So you have to be extra careful with the Reno11 when near water bodies or splashes.
Both phones have a glass design with matte finishes and AMOLED screens protected by Asahi Glass AGC DT-Star2 and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus for the Reno11 and Note 13 Pro+ respectively. Gorilla Victus is better than Asahi Glass AGC DT-Star2. Both phones come with a pre-applied screen protector on top.
Both phones have an IR blaster, optical under-display fingerprint reader, dual microphones and dual stereo speakers.
Both phones have curved screens with the Reno11 having a 10-bit 6.7″ AMOLED curved screen sporting a 120Hz refresh rate, 1000 nits brightness, HDR10+ support and 100%+ sRGB/DCI-P3 wide colour gamut while the Note 13 Pro+ sports a 12-bit 6.67-inch curved AMOLED screen with 1800 nits peak brightness.
Xiaomi wins here as the display is also high resolution at 1220 x 2712 pixel resolution compared to 1080 x 2412 pixel resolution of the Reno11.
Xiaomi takes the crown here with its IP68 rating, Gorilla Glass Victus and high-resolution high-quality display.
PERFORMANCE
Both phones are powered by powerful MediaTek chipsets – Dimensity 7050 for the Reno11 and Dimensity 7200 Ultra for the Note 13 Pro+. Reno11 comes with 8GB RAM and 256GB(UFS 2.2) storage while the Note has 12GB RAM and 512GB (UFS 3.1) storage.
Reno11 has Android 14 and ColorOS 14 out of the box while Redmi has Android 13 and MIUI 14. Here’s OPPO gets a win as they have a more consistent and timely software update policy and the Reno11 will get 3 years of Android OS updates and 4 years of security updates.
The Note 13 Pro+ will get updated to HyperOS later on. It will also get 3 years of Android OS updates and 4 years of security updates.
The Dimensity 7200 Ultra is a relatively faster chipset and you get more RAM and faster and more storage for the same price with the Redmi. Sadly, it doesn’t ship with Android 14 like OPPO.
CAMERAS
Reno11 has a 50MP main that now comes with OIS. You’ll still get the usual 32MP portrait telephoto with 2X optical zoom and an 8MP ultrawide. You also get a 32MP selfie camera which can now shoot 4K video just like the rear cameras.
Note 13 Pro+ has a 200MP main camera with OIS and an 8MP ultrawide and 2MP macro with video recording capped at 4K 24/30fps while selfies are taken care of by the 16MP front-facing camera that supports 1080p video recording.
OPPO Reno11 shots tend to have more cooler hues while Redmi’s shots swing to warmer hues.
It’ll depend on your preferences.
If you like taking 4K video on your selfie camera, then you’ll be biased to pick the Reno11 for this reason.
BATTERY LIFE
The two phones have 5000mAh batteries with different charging capabilities. the Reno11 is maxed at 67W wired charging while the Note is capped at 120W. This means that they charge at different speeds with the Note 13 Pro+ gets to full charge in 19 minutes while it takes the Reno11 45 minutes.
Both phones will give you a full day of charge with some left by the time you get to bed. If you care about how fast your phone charges, then the Note 13 is your top choice.
VERDICT
Going spec for spec, the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ wins in most rounds and it gets even more competitive when the price is put in place. Xiaomi went to work with significant upgrades over its midrange series while OPPO made minor changes to the Reno11.
This doesn’t mean it’s bad phone – for all its worth, the Reno11 is more than capable. But you get more value with the Redmi Note 13 Pro+.
Pricing also gets competitive and will be the deciding factor for most consumers.
