Chinese smartphone tech firm, vivo has officially announced the launch of its new flagship smartphone, the vivo V30 5G, in Kenya. The device is set to be an all-new upgrade to the vivo V29 that was launched last year.
As part of the flagship series, the smartphone comes with a premium design complemented by a new set of stylish colour options such as Peacock Green and Noble Black. One of the smartphone’s outstanding features is the new Aura Light attached to the camera module set to be vivo’s version of a ring light. The device also supports distance-sensitive lighting that can detect the subject’s distance in real-time with centimetre-level precision to adjust the Aura Light brightness.
“V series has always been synonymous with a light and simple aesthetic, a characteristic that is amplified with vivo’s groundbreaking innovations in both portrait photography and design. We have upgraded the Aura Light Portrait feature, bringing a truly powerful tool to help users easily capture stunning portraits, even in challenging low-light night conditions.” said vivo Kenya CEO Mr. Sean Wu.
The device comes with a 120Hz 6.78-inch display powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 processor meant to give it high levels of performance while also providing power efficiency. The screen has a peak local brightness of 2800 nits and a maximum overall brightness of 1200 nits. The phone’s system is Android 14 which comes with 3 years of guaranteed software upgrades, covered by vivo’s FunTouch skin.
The device is packed with a 5000mAh battery which is set to charge up for about 48 minutes due to the 80W charging capability.
One of the main upgrades from the vivo V29 is the camera module that holds two 50MP ultrawide and wide lenses. The selfie camera is also a 50Mp lens that can capture wide-angled shots at a 92° angle.
The phone is retailing in the country at KES 64,999 set to compete in the midrange smartphone spectrum.
