Mercedes Benz is taking the term “mobile office” very literally by integrating Microsoft Teams into its vehicles.
Starting with the upcoming CLA model, drivers will be able to participate in Teams video meetings using the car’s built-in camera.
This is a major milestone for both the automotive and tech industries. Mercedes Benz is the first automaker to enable in-car video conferencing while driving, powered by its new MB.OS platform and fourth-generation MBUX infotainment system.
Here’s how it works: the Mercedes Benz in-cabin camera captures your video during a Microsoft Teams call and shares it with other participants. However, once the car is in motion, your video feed disappears from your own screen to reduce distraction.
You can still speak and listen freely during the call, but any shared content, such as slides or screen sharing from other participants, is hidden to keep your focus on driving.
The camera setup complies with regulations by disabling driver-facing visuals during motion while still letting passengers engage fully if needed.
Microsoft 365 Copilot Is Also Coming to Mercedes Benz
Beyond video meetings, Mercedes Benz is planning to roll out Microsoft 365 Copilot integration, transforming the car into a voice-powered productivity assistant.
With this AI-driven tool, drivers will be able to compose emails, manage their calendars, respond to messages, and even summarize documents, all using natural voice commands.
This feature is designed to work hands-free, enabling drivers to get more done during commutes or long-distance drives without ever touching a screen.
As remote and hybrid work models become more common, professionals are increasingly seeking ways to stay productive beyond the traditional office.
