Fuliza recorded a 34.9% revenue rebound in the 2025/26 financial year, according to Safaricom Group’s half-year financial report.
Revenue from the overdraft service rose from KES 1.9 billion to KES 2.6 billion in the last year. This period also witnessed the number of M-Pesa customers utilizing the facility grow to 9.1 million, up from 7.5 million, representing a 22.2% growth.
It is worth noting that a bulk of M-Pesa customers are not utilizing the facility, as 9.1 million represents only 23.52% of the M-Pesa customer base, which is currently at 38.69 million.
In addition, while revenue has recently grown, it still hasn’t matched the service’s peak performance. Fuliza’s highest revenue remains the KES 3.4 billion recorded for the FY 2022/2023. This peak revenue was followed by declining revenues in the next two financial years.

Fuliza is serving customers who are meeting low-cost demands, as the average disbursement is currently KES 254.6. Even at its peak in FY 20/21, the average ticket size was KES 478.5.
Despite the average ticket size dropping over the years, the total value of disbursements has been growing steadily. In the latest report, the value of Fuliza disbursements reached KES 629.2 billion, representing a growth of 39.8% from the previous year. It is also a huge leap from KES 149.4 billion disbursed in FY 20/21.

Launched in 2019, Fuliza is a credit overdraft facility offered by Safaricom in partnership with two commercial banks, NCBA and KCB Bank, which act as underwriters.
The service allows customers to cover short-term cash flow shortfalls up to a predetermined limit. It is an opt-in service, and customers can opt out at any time.
