TikTok removed more than 93,700 accounts in Kenya in Q4 2025 after suspecting they belonged to children under 13. They were banned as accounts opened or used by minors violate the platform’s own policies.
According to the company, “TikTok has a 13+ rating in the Apple App Store and is listed for ‘Teens’ in Google Play. If you want to stop your teen from downloading TikTok, these ratings can help.”
While 13 is the platform’s policy to protect minors, the minimum age to open an account may be higher in some countries. “In some countries, the minimum age may be different based on local laws,” TikTok states on its guardian guide page.
The 93,700 accounts made up 86.2% of the 108,752 accounts banned in Kenya during the period under review. The additional 15,052 accounts were found to be in other policy violations.

Owned by ByteDance, the video-sharing platform has, in recent years, increased the use of automated detection and response mechanisms designed to limit the spread of harmful content.
This has led to more video removals, with 820,552 videos in Kenya for breaching community guidelines in Q4 2025. This is a significant increase from the 580,000 removed in Q3.
“99.9% of these videos were proactively removed before anyone reported them, while 98.4% were taken down within 24 hours of posting,” the social media platform claims.
Globally, TikTok removed 175,302,085 videos in Q4 2025, about 0.5% of all uploads. Automated systems detected and removed 152,580,933 of those videos, and 8,360,780 videos were later reinstated after additional review.
The platform reported a 99.1% proactive removal rate and said 93.4% of flagged content was taken down within 24 hours.
