Vivo has officially launched the Vivo V30. This is their latest camera-centric midrange and succeeds the V29[Full Review] and V27[Full Review] from last year with neat upgrades.
Vivo V30 comes with the same 3D curved 6.78-inch AMOLED screen. This is a 10-bot display with a 120Hz refresh rate and HDR10+ support. It now sports increased brightness peaking at 2800 nits compared to the 1300 nits of the V29.
The screen is protected by Schott Alpha.
Sadly the ingress protection gets downgraded from IP68 to IP54 rating. Other features remain standard as you get dual microphones, dual nano-sim card slots, a bottom-facing speaker that has Snapdragon Sound, face unlock and an under-display fingerprint reader.
Vivo V30 boots Android 14 and FunTouch OS 14. Its predecessor currently runs Android 14 with the January Security patch as it got the update in December last year.
We expect it will get two years of major OS updates and three years of security updates. As seen with the V29 software upgrades, we expect the same timely updates as well on the V30.
Vivo V29, Vivo V27 Get Android 14 Update in Kenya
The biggest upgrade is the chipset as Vivo V30 is powered by the new Snapdragon 7 Gen 3. It is the first phone featuring this processor from Snapdragon. The V29 had the Snapdragon 778 5G.
It comes with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. You get up to 8GB of virtual RAM too. It also has an Ultra Large Smart Cooling System to help with cooling during heavy multitasking and intense gaming sessions thanks to the large 3,002 mm2 vapor chamber.
The cameras get upgraded too. V30 features a 50MP dual primary setup that includes a 50MP main with OIS and a 50MP ultrawide. The ultrawide lens is the same one found in the flagship Vivo X100 series. The depth camera gets ditched here.
It also has a 50MP selfie camera just like it predecessor. Video recording is capped at 4K 30fps for both the main cameras and the front camera for selfie videos.

One thing you’ll notice is the new Aural Light design just below the camera island. It is now a square instead of a circle.
The Aura Light feature brightens faces when taking lowlight portrait shots. Smart Color Temperature Adjustment from the V29 will be present as well and it works by detecting the surroundings when the Aura Light is enabled which is a nice addition and the pictures are appealing.
The battery gets increased to 5000mAh from the 4600mAh from the V29. It still supports 80W wired charging.
Vivo V30 comes in Noble Black, Bloom White, Lush Green and Waving Aqua.
