Smartphone brands are still out in this race of wired charging with the charging capacity seeming to get bigger by the day. With 300W wired charging now set to be the new goal set by Redmi, Realme seemingly wants to join the club with its own tech for its smartphones.
This comes after rumours started ringing out mostly from China, claiming that Realme is getting ready to introduce its own 300W charging solution.
It’s important to note that Redmi, another brand based in China launched the first 300W system in February 2003. At the time, the tech was designed to fill up a 4,100mAh battery from zero to full in less than 5 minutes.
However, the industry is still waiting for an actual Redmi phone that actually features the ability to use this 300W charging tech to this day. So, it wouldn’t be a surprise to just see Realme do something similar with its own tech. What does give hope to Realme is that it’s the one brand that has come closest to it with its 240W wired charging as featured in the GT5 and GT Neo 5 flagship phones.
It’s still not clear when we will see Realme unveil this although it wouldn’t surprise us if we saw it featured on its next flagship phone, like the GT7 Pro.
It is incredible to see how fast charging tech has grown in such a short time considering we only had 27W as a maximum just a few years ago. By 2020, the charging power of mobile phones jumped to 65W. As of 2021, we already have 125W fast charging which slowly increased to 200W – 210W.
