The endless scroll might finally have an end. YouTube has announced a new daily time limit for its Shorts feed, designed to help users enjoy bite-sized videos without losing track of time.
The new feature, which is rolling out to mobile users, allows people to set a personal limit on how long they can browse through the endless stream of short-form videos. Once the limit is reached, users will see a dismissible reminder that scrolling has been paused for the day.
This small nudge is meant to help viewers be more mindful about their watching habits, without completely restricting the experience. The setting can be found under Settings, where users can adjust their preferred daily limit.
YouTube says this feature adds to its existing time management tools, such as “Bedtime Reminders” and “Take a Break” alerts, designed to promote digital well-being.
Later this year, YouTube plans to extend this capability to supervised accounts, allowing parents to set non-dismissible limits for kids and teens. Once enabled, scrolling on Shorts will automatically stop once the limit is reached.
