WhatsApp is expanding its multi-account feature to iOS, bringing the ability to use and manage more than one account on the same device.
The feature was spotted by WABetaInfo in the latest TestFlight beta version for iOS and is currently available to a small group of beta testers
With this update, WhatsApp introduces a new “Account List” section in the app’s settings. This allows users to add, switch, or manage accounts conveniently within the same app, similar to how Android users can already manage dual accounts.
So far, the beta supports up to two accounts, and users can add:
- A newly created WhatsApp account
- An existing account previously used on another device
- A WhatsApp Business account
Once a second account is added, users can switch between the two seamlessly without needing workarounds like app cloning or carrying a second phone.
Separate Data and Settings for Each Account
WhatsApp keeps each account completely isolated, ensuring your information stays organized and doesn’t overlap.
Every account maintains its own chat history, iCloud backup settings, notification preferences, and privacy controls, including last seen, profile photo visibility, and read receipts.
This strict separation helps users manage personal and work conversations without any data mixing or confusion.
The feature addresses a long-standing request from users, especially professionals who maintain distinct personal and business numbers. Previously, iOS users had to rely on WhatsApp Business or carry a second device to manage an additional account.
With native multi-account support, switching between accounts becomes seamless, data remains clearly separated, and there’s no longer a need for duplicate apps or multiple devices.
This update also enhances security, allowing users to manage personal and work conversations more safely and efficiently. This test follows WhatsApp’s recent rollout of multi-account support on Android, signaling Meta’s broader push to improve flexibility across platforms.
