Infinix has set January 19 as the launch date for its Note Edge, which will be the first phone globally to ship with MediaTek’s Dimensity 7100 processor. The device will run XOS 16, Infinix’s implementation of Android 16.
The Dimensity 7100 is MediaTek’s successor to the 7050, built with an octa-core setup: four Cortex-A78 cores running at 2.4GHz and four Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0GHz, paired with a Mali-G610 GPU.
MediaTek and Infinix claim the chip delivers 21% lower modem power consumption and 4.4% less background drain from social apps compared to its predecessor.

For gaming, the phone reportedly handles 90fps in Honor of Kings and Peacekeeper Elite, while PUBG runs at 60fps. MediaTek and Infinix have also worked on optimizations for crowded areas and weak signal zones like subways and rural locations, claiming up to 30% better video playback in high-density environments.
The phone is rumored to feature a 3D curved AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution, a 50MP main camera, and a substantial 6,500mAh battery.

XOS 16 introduces what Infinix calls “Glow Space” design elements, featuring semi-transparent UI components with a frosted glass aesthetic and 3D spatial wallpapers that layer behind icons and the clock. The software also adds Live Photo transfer compatibility with iPhones.
Infinix is positioning the Note Edge as a 5G phone priced at 4G levels, though the company hasn’t announced whether the device will launch in Kenya or revealed official pricing for any market. We expect more details to emerge in the days before the January 19 reveal.
