Safaricom has overhauled its Home Fiber packages, raising speeds across three tiers and cutting prices by around 25% for new subscribers, all without a press release or any customer notification.
The updated lineup, along with what changed, is as follows:
| Package | Old Speed | New Speed | Price |
| Bronze | 15 Mbps | 40 Mbps | KES 2,999 |
| Silver | 30 Mbps | 60 Mbps | KES 4,100 |
| Gold | 80 Mbps | 150 Mbps | KES 6,299 |
| Diamond | 500 Mbps | 500 Mbps | KES 12,499 |
| Platinum | 1,000 Mbps | 1,000 Mbps | KES 20,000 |
The price discount applies to new connections only, and Safaricom has confirmed that it runs from the September 1, 2025 to end of day April 29, 2026.
Existing subscribers should see the speed upgrades apply immediately.
Safaricom’s hand seems to have been forced by Airtel Kenya entering the fiber market following the launch of Xstream Fiber. Its packages start at KES 1,999 for 15 Mbps, going up to KES 4,999 for 100 Mbps.
At the 60 Mbps tier, Airtel is undercutting Safaricom’s Silver package by KES 101. That’s a slim margin, but it’s enough to matter.
Then on May 1, 2026, Savanna Fiber is launching residential fiber in Nairobi at KES 2,000 for 100 Mbps, which makes even the new Bronze price of KES 2,250 for 40 Mbps look modest in comparison.

For years, Safaricom’s Home Fiber pricing held firm regardless of what competitors were doing, a privilege that comes with being the market leader. That era looks like it’s over. Savanna Fiber hasn’t even switched on yet, and Safaricom has already moved twice.
